About Shantha Sri

Shantha Sri is a Buddhist yogi and healing music artist who is dedicated to creating specially designed music soundscapes that resonate with the subtle energy centres of the mind and body.

He draws from the inspirations of Ayurveda, Dharma, and nature to create music that brings peace and tranquillity to the listener. Using various world instruments to produce resonant tonal frequencies and sparse cycling melodies, Shantha Sri’s music assists listeners in finding peace within themselves and oneness with the universe by stimulating the mind toward higher states of conscious mindfulness and concentration.

Shantha Sri began creating original music for his own yoga and meditation practice – music that is designed for specific intention using very precise tones and frequencies.

Shantha Sri has found great transformation in his life through yoga and meditation, and contemplation of the higher Self.

Personal Statement about Music Style and Approaches to Meditative Consciousness

"What my music explores is how to achieve a state of Samadhi quickly, how to stay in that mind-space, and how to prepare for higher states of consciousness by using repetitive cycles of musical tones and the use of resonating drone instruments of specific frequencies.

Working with the inspiration of Nada technique (spontaneous inner sounds), I use sounds and tones that, when listened to while practising Pranayama (Yogic Breathing) or Bhavana (Meditation), can come to the individual as a spontaneous sound. This is an advanced stage of meditation – and Nada may take the form of sounds such as bells, the blowing of a counch, thunder, gongs and resonating bowls, etc.

All my music comes directly from my own yoga and meditation practice. My daily meditation informs my work, and vice versa – it speaks directly to what flows from the music and sound toning.

In my own life I had a real need to find peace and harmony within myself; transcendence from the stress and problems of the everyday world and a feeling of acceptance, of both myself and the world. I began experimenting with music structure and sounds based on ancient Indian Ayurvedic principles, in conjunction with my yoga and meditation practice, in an effort to find equilibrium, balance and security of mind, and a healthy body.

I often use high quality Tibetan and Nepalese singing bowls to produce complex chords of harmonic overtones and warm bell-like tones, along with traditional drone instruments (Tanpura, Sitar, Harmonium, and Didgeridoo).

The music and audio programs come from years of experimentation and are available for anyone who seeks peace and tranquillity in their lives.

I hope that by listening to this music, and relaxing into it, you may find complete peace, and through this experience your life may also change in a positive and transcendent way.

Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti
